The Alliance of China-Thailand Universities (ACTU) EstablishedRelease Time:2020-10-28 From: The Alliance of China-Thailand Universities (ACTU) was officially established at the "Forum on China-Thailand Higher Education Cooperation and the Inaugural Conference of the Alliance of China-Thailand Universities" held on October 20, 2020, in Kunming. Representatives from nearly 170 universities in China and Thailand attended the event either onsite or online. At the meeting, the first ACTU Board of Directors was elected. Prof. Yan Xiaohong, President of Jiangsu University, and Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, President of Siam University, were elected as Co-Chairs of ACTU, and Mr. E Xuewen was elected as Secretary-General. Six Vice Chairs and 28 Board Members representing both Chinese and Thai universities were also elected by the Assembly. ACTU was jointly initiated and proposed by 14 universities and educational institutions of China and Thailand during the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week held in Guiyang in July 2019. It is an open platform for promoting institutional exchange and cooperation between China and Thailand in the fields of teaching and research, cultural exchange, policy study, and education services, so as to train high-quality human resources with multi-lingual, cross-discipline abilities and global competence. 图 3:云南省委教育工委委员、省教育厅党组成员徐立 图 4:昆明理工大学副校长马文会发言 图 5:东西方国际教育集团董事长、东西方国际教育研究院院长王伟 Dr. Pornchai , ACTU Thai Co-Chair said in his speech that the establishment of ACTU is the real embodiment of the potential of higher education cooperation between Thailand and China, which will greatly promote breakthroughs in teacher-student exchanges and mutual recognition of credits between colleges and universities of the two countries. He hoped that ACTU can serve as a bridge of friendship, an innovative platform and an engine for development. Prof. Zhao Yutao, Vice President of Jiangsu University said on behalf of Prof. Yan, the ACTU Chinese Co-Chair, that they would give full play to their leadership role and work closely and innovatively with member institutions for improving the quality and efficiency of higher education cooperation between China and Thailand. Mr. Wang Wei, President of EWIE proposed to establish, based on the ACTU platform, an exchange mode with open information, diverse levels and standardized operation, and to encourage cross-discipline training and mutual recognition of academic credits. 图 6: 中泰高等教育合作联盟中方常务理事单位
